Automotive Computer Vision
Computer Vision
Cogent has years of experience in the development of automotive vision systems. This includes computer vision systems which use a camera image as input and provide a highly abstracted output – e.g. a single bit to issue a warning, or brake the car.
Computer Vision in embedded automotive applications
Computer Vision Systems have revolutionized the automotive industry, and continue to do so. Features like Automatic Emergency Braking that used to be based on radar systems and cost hundreds of dollars are replaced by relatively inexpensive camera-based systems and have become standard equipment on new vehicle. Highly automated (“autonomous”) vehicles have an even greater need for computer vision – relying on the same inputs as a human driver.
At Cogent, we have developed our own algorithms and supported our clients in their development for many years.
